Healing Inner-Self

The Art Of Being Still:

We often find ourselves caught in a whirlwind of thoughts, emotions, and stress, trapped in the constant hustle of life. If you’ve ever felt like your mind is too busy to even hear yourself think, I want to reassure you that there is a way out. There’s a path toward feeling lighter and calmer, and surprisingly, it’s not about solving every problem all at once. Sometimes, the answers you’re searching for are found by simply letting go.

You don’t have to force yourself to fix everything right away. One of the most unexpected ways I started to heal was through the practice of being still, of doing nothing in particular, of allowing space for my mind to breathe. The shift that can happen when you stop fighting against yourself and just allow your body and mind to relax is profound.

I remember one evening in particular, when I was in my bedroom, simply watching my dog roll around and play with his bouncy ball. There was no agenda, no list of things to do, just the simple joy of witnessing peace in action. I found myself sitting there, mind surprisingly free of racing thoughts. I began tapping gently on my temples and the sides of my ears, a small action meant to release some stress. And then, almost without thinking, I said “YES” aloud. I didn’t know why I said it, but the moment I did, something strange happened.

I suddenly felt vibrations throughout my entire being. My body began shaking – not in a way that was painful, but in a way that felt very, very odd. For a brief moment, I thought I was having a heart attack, but the thought was fleeting. Instead of hard-core panicking, I sat through the sensation, unsure of what was happening, but allowing it to run its course.

The odd thing is, after that experience, something shifted. It took a good 20 minutes or so of me feeling woke, clear but also quite strange and I was wanting to call my Mum about this or a girlfriend but I just had no idea how to explain what had just happened.

I realised I hadn’t just let go of one burden – I had released multiple layers I hadn’t even known existed. It wasn’t that my worries and sadness disappeared completely, but they were no longer at the forefront of my thoughts. They became something I could manage, like emails I had archived, still there but no longer demanding my immediate attention.

This experience was a reminder that sometimes, the act of being still can unlock answers to things you didn’t even realise needed healing. It’s a subtle and uncanny process, but it works. When you give yourself permission to pause, to be still, to simply “be,” you open yourself up to healing on a much deeper level than you might expect.

I’m so grateful for this moment – this simple, yet life-changing shift that taught me the power of stillness. It’s a lesson I carry with me every day: Sometimes, the answers you need aren’t found in the hustle, but in the quiet moments where you allow yourself to truly feel.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or trapped in busy energy, I encourage you to try this: Just stop. Breathe. Be still. You may be surprised by what you find.
